Art nights, fundraisers & neighborhood things

I’m an artist in San Francisco, and most of my favorite work happens a few blocks from my apartment — painting five-minute portraits at a neighborhood night, donating a piece to a local fundraiser, or drawing a restaurant for a magazine that gets handed out down the street.

Live 5-minute portraits

I set up a small table and paint guests as they come by. Everyone leaves with a signed watercolor of themselves — or of themselves and their dog.

Fundraisers + auctions

I’ve donated custom watercolor work to local fundraisers, including a house portrait auctioned off for Community Streets SF.

Illustrations for neighborhood publications — I’ve drawn for issues #2 and #4 of Lower Haight Local, the print magazine for my own corner of the city.

Local shows + activations

Group shows, art nights, and pop-ups around San Francisco, with work that usually starts with a building or a bar I walk past all the time.

Five minutes, one portrait, one very happy guest

From two nights of live painting at Date My Friend in SF — a huge thank you to everyone who trusted me to paint their portrait.

Fundraisers

Something to auction, something to give away

For the Community Streets SF fundraiser I auctioned off a custom watercolor portrait of a home of the winner’s choosing — the kind of prize that raises money because someone actually wants to hang it.

If you’re organizing for a community organization or a neighborhood fundraiser, please reach out and tell me what you’re putting together. Quotes are custom, and I’d rather start from what you’re working with than a price list.

Drawing the neighborhood, for the neighborhood

I illustrate for Lower Haight Local, the print magazine for my neighborhood, and my work has run in issues #2 and #4 — including a farewell piece for Ragazza, the pizza place that closed its doors on Divisadero Street.

If you make a community publication, a zine, or a program that needs artwork with a real sense of place in it, I would love to hear about it.

For fundraisers, shows & local publications

Watercolor and ink work made for and about San Francisco — houses, restaurants, and the bars I keep ending up in.

A plug for art night

Lower Haight Local hosts a free art night every month — not my event, just one I love. They provide all the materials, a very chill space, and prompts to draw from, and being creative around other people is the fastest way I know to get unstuck. If you’ve been meaning to make something, go.
