Weddings

From the engagement to the last dance

I’m an artist, illustrator, and film photographer in San Francisco, and weddings are where all three end up in the same room. I photograph couples on 35mm film, paint venues for invitation suites, and set up at receptions to paint guest portraits by hand.

Love is alive in San Francisco — I’ve spent the last year documenting couples all over the city, and I’d love to be part of your year too.

Engagement photography

Sessions around San Francisco shot on 35mm film — Kodak 200 for color, 100 for black and white. Grainy, warm, and unhurried.

Wedding photography

Documenting the day itself: the vows, the guests, the long slow middle where everyone relaxes. Most recently Hannah and Isaac at Wooden Sanctuary.

Live guest portraits

I set up at your reception and paint your guests, one by one. Everyone goes home with a portrait instead of a party favor.

Engagement sessions

Shot on 35mm film

Kodak 200 for color and Kodak 100 for black and white. Film slows a session down in a way that suits people who don’t love being photographed — fewer frames, more walking around, more of you actually looking like yourselves.

More of my film work lives in engagement photography.

The wedding day

Wooden sanctuary, may 2026

Hannah and Isaac got married over Memorial Day weekend, and I photographed the whole day — the vows, the guests in their best clothes, and the dancing that followed.

Painted on paper

Invitations, itineraries, place cards

Before the day itself, there’s a lot of paper. I paint venues in watercolor for invitation and stationery suites, and take on the design and creative direction alongside it at an additional rate.

Guest place cards
Custom watercolor place cards — small painted portraits of each guest, in a softer and more refined style than my live event work.
Anniversary gifts
A watercolor portrait of the venue, or of the house a couple built a life in. I painted one as a 30th wedding anniversary gift.

The bachelorette itinerary

For a bachelorette weekend I drew a different illustration for each day, matched to what everyone was actually doing, and wrote all of the guests’ names along the border. The illustrations and lettering are drawn in Procreate and laid out in InDesign.

I painted watercolor place cards for the same kind of weekend — small portraits of each guest in a softer, more refined style than my live event work.

At the reception

Live guest portraits

I set up a table at your reception and paint your guests while the party goes on around me. I’m on site for 3–5 hours and can paint up to 5 couples or 10 guests per hour. Every portrait goes home on high quality archival paper in a protective sleeve, in monochrome or color.

It’s an interactive piece of entertainment and a party favor at the same time — and it gives the guests who don’t dance something to do.

After the wedding

A portrait of the place

This one is a home in the mountains in Colorado, painted in earthy browns and greens — and it was also the couple’s wedding venue, so I gave it a warmth and a nostalgic softness.

The same painting works as an anniversary gift years later. I painted one house portrait as a 30th wedding anniversary present, of the home the couple’s daughter grew up in.

Frequently asked questions

how much does an illustration commission cost?

There is a $300 minimum for custom illustration, and the final price depends on size and complexity. A 50% deposit secures your spot, with the remaining 50% due before final delivery.

Design and creative direction for a full invitation or stationery suite are available at an additional rate — please inquire for pricing.

how far in advance should I book an illustration?

My standard turnaround is about 5 weeks, and we agree on a timeline before I begin. For invitations, it helps to reach out well before your mailing date so there’s room for revisions.

how does live painting at a reception work?

I’m on site for 3–5 hours and can paint up to 5 couples or 10 guests per hour, which accounts for the transitions between portraits. I take a photo of each guest and paint from it, and guests stop by my table before the end of the night to collect their portrait.

what do the live portraits look like?

They’re painted on high quality archival paper and packaged in a protective sleeve. You can choose monochrome or color, and event name or logo branding is available for an additional fee.

what do you shoot on?

Engagement sessions are shot on 35mm film — Kodak 200 for color and Kodak 100 for black and white. I’ve photographed a lot of San Francisco couples over the last year, and I’d love to add yours.

how do I get a quote?

Email me with your date, your venue, and which pieces you’re interested in. Live painting and photography quotes are custom, because every wedding is a different shape.
